• Carbon dioxide (n.phrase) (the gas formed when carbon is burned, or when people or animals breathe out) ≈ greenhouse gases (n.phrase) (Carbon dioxide, methane, chlorofluorocarbons, nitrous oxide and low-level ozone that has the property of absorbing infrared radiation (net heat energy) emitted from Earth’s surface) (khí thải nhà kính) ≈ emissions (n) (khí thải) (an amount of gas, heat, light, etc. that is sent out)

• The greenhouse effect (n.phrase): hiệu ứng nhà kính (an increase in the amount of carbon dioxide and other gases in the atmosphere)

• Average global temperatures ≈ the earth’s average temperatures ≈ our planet’s average temperatures (n.phrase): nhiệt độ trung bình toàn cầu/trái đất (Exp: “The world is getting warmer than in the past because average global temperatures have increased.”)

• Human activity ≈ human action (n.phrase): hoạt động của con người (Exp: “Human activities are the main culprits for causing a dozen problems that have negative impacts on the ecosystem.”)

• Deforestation ≈ forest clearance ≈ illegal logging (n.phrase) (chặt cây trái pháp luật) (the cutting down of trees in a large area, or the destruction of forests by people)

• Release + khí thải + into…(v): thải khí thải ra đâu (Factories will be banned if they release CO2 into the atmosphere.)

• The burning of fossil fuels (n.phrase): việc đốt nhiên liệu hóa thạch (Exp: “The burning of fossil fuels emits harmful gases, but people still use them for heating and cooking.”)

• Ozone layer depletion (n.phrase): sự phá hủy tầng ô-zôn (gradual thinning of Earth’s ozone layer in the upper atmosphere caused by the release of chemical compounds containing gaseous chlorine or bromine from industry and other human activities.)

• Sea levels (n.phrase): mực nước biển (the average level of the sea where it meets the land)

• Extreme weather conditions (n.phrase): những điều kiện thời tiết khắc nghiệt (includes unexpected, unusual, severe, or unseasonal weather)

• Put heavy pressure on…(idiom): đặt áp lực nặng nề lên… (to try to influence or persuade one to do something or act a certain way; to make demands on or expect something from someone.)

• Wildlife habitats (n.phrase): môi trường sống của động vật hoang dã (Exp: “Wildlife habitats are being destroyed because of human activities.”)
