  • Artefact /ˈɑːrtɪfækt/ (n): đồ tạo tác, được làm bởi con người (an object that is made by a person, especially something of historical or cultural interest)

        Example: All students will benefit from the study of primary sources and genuine artefacts from the past.

 

  • Obsolete /ˌɑːbsəˈliːt/ (adj): cổ xưa, lỗi thời (​no longer used because something new has been invented)

        Example: With technological changes many traditional skills have become obsolete.

 

  • Somber /ˈsɑːmbər/ (adj): ảm đạm, u sầu (sad and serious)

        Example: Paul was in a somber mood.

 

  • Shadowy: mờ nhạt, ít được biết tới (used to refer to someone or something about which little is known)

        Example: The English king, Arthur, is a somewhat shadowy figure who may not have even existed.

 

  • In place of: thay vì (instead of)

       Example: You can use milk in place of cream in this recipe.

 

  • Evoke /ɪˈvəʊk/ (v): gợi lên (to bring a feeling, a memory or an image into your mind)

       Example: The music evoked memories of her youth.

 

  • The fabric of something: một phần của cái gì đó (the structure of parts of something)

       Example: the fabric of society.

 

  • Folklore /ˈfəʊklɔːr/ (n): truyền thống của một nhóm người (the traditions and stories of a country or community)

       Example: The story rapidly became part of family folklore.

 

  • Time-honored /ˈtaɪm ɑːnərd/ (adj): tôn trọng truyền thống (respected because it has been used or done for a long time)

       Example: Family Thanksgiving dinners are a time-honored tradition.

 

  • Intact /ɪnˈtækt/ (adj): trọn vẹn, còn nguyên

       Example: Most of the house remains intact even after two hundred years.

 

  • To be handed down: được lưu truyền (to give or leave something to somebody who is younger than you)

       Example: Most of his clothes were handed down to him by his older brother.

 

  • Resurgence /rɪˈsɜːrdʒəns/ (n): sự hồi sinh, sống lại (the return and growth of an activity that had stopped)

       Example: The creation of independent states has led to a resurgence of nationalism.
