Từ vựng IELTS về chủ đề Education (Part 1)

Chủ đề về Education luôn là một hot topic khi các bạn tham gia bài thi IELTS, cũng như là trao đổi/ giao tiếp trong cuộc sống hằng ngày. Vì vậy, hôm nay diễn đàn tiếng Anh sẽ chia sẻ với các bạn một số từ liên quan đến chủ đề này và cách sử dụng của chúng một cách đơn giản nhất.

• Fellowship: học bổng (money for teaching or study given to a student studying for an advanced degree, or a position at a university paid for in this way)

           Exp: She applied for a fellowship to continue her studies.

• Nursery school: trường mầm non (a place where young children and babies are taken care of while their parents are at work)

           Exp: All nursery schools must take responsibility for taking care of children and teaching them basic knowledge.

• Boarding school: trường nội trú (a school equipped with rooms where its students live instead of living in their own homes)

           Exp: Thanks to opening boarding schools, it would be easier than in the past for the students who live far from ordinary ones when moving between home and school.

• Credit mania/credit-driven practice: bệnh thành tích (exaggeration and obsession with what someone has accomplished, sometimes achievement isn't much, but he/she usually shows off to everyone.)

           Exp: All of us need to understand how badly credit mania affects other people in our society.

• Vocational: dạy nghề (providing skills and education that prepare you for a job)

           Exp: It is necessary that universities should provide vocational training for students.

• Bookworm: mọt sách (a person who reads a lot)

           Exp: Alice is a bookworm because she spends most of her time reading each kind of book.

• Academic transcript/grading schedule/results certificate: bảng điểm (a formal record of your studies)

           Exp: Students can get their academic transcript at the end of the semester.

• Cram: nhồi nhét (to try to learn a lot very quickly before an exam or do many things in a short period of time)

           Exp: Tom’s cramming seven ideogram lessons for his Chinese exam.

• Pass an exam with flying colours: đạt điểm cao (do it very successfully)

           Exp: He passed the Maths exam with flying colours.

• Crib sheet: phao bài (a piece of paper that contains notes or information to help someone remember something, especially one used for cheating during an examination)

           Exp: Students are not allowed to bring crib sheets when taking an exam.

• Hit the books: chăm chỉ học bài, nghiên cứu (to begin to study in a serious and determined way)

           Exp: I can’t go out with you tonight, I have to hit the books because I will take an important exam this weekend.

• To work your way through university/college: đi làm để trả tiền học phí (to have a job when you are at college/university in order to help to pay for your studies)

           Exp: Her family can't afford her tuition fee, so she has to work her way through university.
