But the leader that I always admire most is Uncle Ho – the greatest leader to every Vietnamese.

There are many reasons for my admiration.

First, his love to our country is great. He devoted almost all of his life to our national liberation. Leaving his home village to find out a solution for our independence when he was very young, he visited France, England, Rusia… and returned after 30 years tramping about abroad through thick and thin in search of a way to help our country. Without money, he had to work hard to earn a living in strange lands and to find the road to independence. Having returned, he assembled forces and guided the masses in long, arduous Revolution and Resistance, against French colonialism and United States imperialist – the two strongest nations in the world at that time.

Second, his will is admirable. Besides the great love to the country, his will is something so strong that it is almost incredible. Nobody can say for sure how many difficulties he had to get over, during his 79-year life struggling for the independence and freedom of our country. With his unyieldingness and ironic will, he is a model of revolutionary fighter, a model of communist.

One more thing that made me completely admire him is his love to mankind, especially to the poor, the miserable over the world. When he was imprisoned in China in 1944, he wrote many poems, not complaining for his situation, but sympathizing to others’ anguish, although they did not have any close relationships to him, and they were not Vietnamese – they were Chinese. And he struggled not for himself, but for people. Becoming president, he simply lived in a little wood house in Ha Noi. His personal life is pure and upbright – he almost did not have anything for himself. This is really a legend that not very popular in the world at all.

Finally, his knowledge is noticeable. He could fluently use many languages, such as French, English, Chinese and so on. Most of these languages were the results of a process of learning by himself. His fund of knowledge about history, religious, culture... is huge, too. And he is also a great poet, with a lot of works written at the time of war. In his writing, we find out the picture of our beloved beautiful country, as well as our people desiring to independence and liberty.
